This modern classic was created by New York-based bartender Sam Ross. These days, it’s rare to come up with a brand new cocktail that becomes so popular everyone starts putting it on their list, but that’s what’s happened with the Paper Plane.
The Penicillin is an IBA official cocktail made with whiskey, ginger, and fresh lemon juice. The drink was created in 2005 by New York bartender Sam Ross. Its name derives from the drug penicillin hinting to the medicinal properties of some of its ingredients, with suggested effects similar to that of a hot toddy which is said to relieve the symptoms of cold and flu.
Simple, balanced and delicious. The easy-to-execute Paper Plane is a must-duplicate at home. Photo courtesy Earls.67.
A contemporary cocktail created by Sam Ross of Attaboy, NY. Sam is also the creator of modern classic cocktails such as the Penicillin, Paper Plane and the C. Attaboy is the everyman’s cocktail bar hidden in plain sight on an obscure bit of Eldridge Street. From Michael McIlroy and Sam Ross, the pair that helmed Milk & Honey throughout the late aughts, this understated beauty is the younger, less self-conscious sister that. Conquistador Veteran barman Sam Ross says he gave this drink its name because it beats back the ferocity of tequila like a conqueror. It’s no small effort to make a tequila-and-egg-white drink genuinely.
Best animation making software for mac. I discovered it at the new Earls.67 on Stephen Avenue. It’s a perfect transition drink for fall — the lime and Aperol are bright and sunny, while the bourbon and Amaro hint at cooler days.

I also like its simplicity. Like The Last Word and the Negroni, it’s a drink where you mix the ingredients in equal parts; so, it’s almost impossible to mess up — an important consideration if you’re shaking up more than two!
